4 Sensitive Skin Must-Haves from First Aid Beauty
First Aid Beauty is one of my favorite skincare brands because they formulate their products with sensitive skin in mind. Here are 4 products I love from First Aid Beauty!
4 Things to Look for When You Choose a Cleanser
You know how sometimes when you wash your face you get that tight, dry, squeaky clean feeling? Yeah, you don't want that! That’s a sign that you should probably ditch your current cleanser and choose a new one! Here's what to look for when buying a cleanser.
5 Asian Skincare Products I'm Loving From Glowie Co
I used to get so overwhelmed shopping for Asian beauty products because there's a sea of amazing products out there and I had no idea where to start! Glowie Co is a relatively new Asian beauty retailer based in LA that sells skincare products from Taiwan, Japan, and Korea and I'm really impressed with the range of products they offer.
5 Things to Do When You Have a Pimple
Popping a zit is tempting, I know! But trust me, it's not worth it. I put together a list of my favorite ways to deal with a pimple besides popping.
How The Double Cleansing Method Transformed My Skin
Photo description: Charlotte Cho's Double Cleansing Duo from her skincare brand Then I Met You. On the left is a blue bottle of her Soothing Tea Cleansing Gel. To the right is a circular jar containing the mango-sorbet-like texture of the Living Cleansing Balm.Double cleansing has become HUGE over the past few years and it's personally the method of cleansing that has made the biggest difference in my skin! But it's more than just washing your face twice. Double cleansing is a Korean beauty method that involves cleansing your skin twice: first with an oil-based cleanser to remove makeup and dirt, and then again with a traditional water-based cleanser.
The Best and Worst Foundations I Tried in 2019
Buying foundations always seems like such a daunting task for me and my oily skin. I've tested 6 foundations over the past year (including tinted moisturizers and CC creams) and put together my pros and cons for each.
Free Radicals and Why You Need Antioxidant Skincare
From the way cosmetics companies talk about free radicals, you’d think we’d need to call a priest to exorcise every last one out of our bodies. But, the truth is, our body needs these little guys in moderation! They play a huge role in our biological processes. They’re the reason we can turn air and food into chemical energy and they also play an important role in our immune system. We only start running into issues with free radicals when our body creates too many of them.
Sexual Wellness Brands Have Officially Entered the Beauty Space. Here's Why it Matters.
Brands like maude have really taken the initiative to emphasize that skincare and body care isn't limited to just moisturizers and scrubs. The products we use for sexual health can be just as important as our skincare routines. Not only are brands like maude opening up the conversation about a topic that was once considered taboo (gasp sex and self-pleasure!); they're also helping us re-frame the way we think about sexual wellness products and how they're marketed and sold. When we start seeing products like lube available in beauty spaces, we start to remember that it’s normal and buying them shouldn’t feel like an awkward experience.
6 Easy Ways To Make Your Pores Look Smaller
One of the most-asked questions I get asked in my Instagram DMs is "how do I get rid of my pores?" Well, plot twist: You cant! But before you click off this page, hear me out...The reason you'll never be able to get rid of your pores is that you're not an airbrushed model -you're a human! And everyone has pores - including those models and celebs beneath the airbrushing.
Levitate Spotlight: Billie Razors Are Taking On The Pink Tax And Celebrating Women's Body Hair
In addition to their amazing razors, what really makes Billie stand out to me is the fact that a lot of their messaging celebrates women’s body hair. Billie mentioned to me that they’re the first women’s razor brand to show body hair in their ads. Billie makes it clear that body hair on women is normal and that whether or not we shave is our personal choice.
Organization Tips For Beauty Hoarders
I almost always recommend displaying your skincare in places that are visible and easily accessible, and grouping similar products together in a way that makes sense to you (whether this is by function, brand, color, or price point). Your goal is to make it easier to keep an inventory of what you have and how much you have so that you don't let products go bad before you have a chance to finish them.
My Top 10 Skincare Products of 2018
Happy New Year's Eve everyone! It's been just over a year since I started Levitate Beauty and I can't thank you enough for all the love and support you've given me this year! I couldn't end the year without giving recognition to my top 10 skin-changing products of 2018. So let's get right into it!
Kairetool is The Beauty Tool That Might Just Replace My Facial Roller
Selfkaire developed a tool that addresses the drawbacks of a traditional roller. It's made of surgical steel, so it's much sturdier than a traditional roller which is great for those of us that like to apply more pressure when massaging, and the gentle rounded pins at the end can be used to target acupressure points. Plus a huge bonus: it looks great on my vanity. But what I love most about Kairetool is that it's more than just a beauty tool. It's incredibly versatile and it can be used on your body as well!
Skincare 101: The Best Way to Use Hyaluronic Acid in your Routine
Hyaluronic Acid is produced naturally in our bodies, and when applied topically, it can give you an amazing moisture boost and can plump your skin, reducing the appearing of fine lines and wrinkles. Sounds like a miracle, I know, but it's science! However HA isn't the most straightforward ingredient to incorporate into your skincare routine, and using it incorrectly can actually dehydrate your skin.
My Favorite Hydrating Wash-Off Mask This Fall
Like all Farmacy products, Honey Potion includes hydrating honey sourced from their farms in upstate New York. According to the brand, the bees pollinate their trademarked GreenEnvy flowers, which infuses their honey with antioxidants. The sticky honey-textured mask lathers into a rich cream and produces a warming sensation when applied. The first time I used it, I didn't realize it was supposed to warm up so I was somewhat alarmed - but don't fret! It's totally normal and after knowing what to expect, I really appreciate the warmth and I'll welcome it with open arms during particularly cold days. The warming sensation stayed pretty consistent during the 15 minutes that I let the mask sit, but it wasn't overwhelming.
Sun Bum: A Sunscreen Love Story
One of the highlights of my summer was discovering Sun Bum! I'm pretty serious about sunscreen, and it's paying off as I learned during my visit to Atolla Skin Lab and when I found out that I have no signs of sun damage. Before going on a cruise last month, I asked for body sunscreen recommendations, and so many of your answers said I should give Sun Bum a try! Sun Bum's products are vegan and reef-safe, and in addition to all of their sunscreens having broad spectrum SPF ratings, they also all contain Vitamin E which helps to combat free radical damage and is intensely moisturizing.
Uncomplicating Skincare: How to Layer Your Skincare Products
It’s so easy to get overwhelmed when adding a new product to your routine because you’re not sure how to use it. And, honestly, I get it. There’s so much information out there on how or when and if you should use a product and it’s a lot to take in.My unpopular opinion? Stop worrying about it! Sort of.
