One of the highlights of my summer was discovering Sun Bum! I'm pretty serious about sunscreen, and it's paying off as I learned during my visit to Atolla Skin Lab and when I found out that I have no signs of sun damage. Before going on a cruise last month, I asked for body sunscreen recommendations, and so many of your answers said I should give Sun Bum a try! Sun Bum's products are vegan and reef-safe, and in addition to all of their sunscreens having broad spectrum SPF ratings, they also all contain Vitamin E which helps to combat free radical damage and is intensely moisturizing.

So I decided to trust the bum as I set out for a romantic Caribbean adventure with my Sun Bum Original SPF 50 Sunscreen Lotion.... oh and my boyfriend was there too!

Sun Bum Original Sunscreen Lotion

Filters: Avobenzone 3%, Homosalate 10%, Octisalate 5%, Octocrylene 10%

Sun Bum Original Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50. This sunscreen smells like summer. More specifically, it smells like Pina Coladas. It's a water resistant sunscreen but, despite being a thick lotion consistency, Sun Bum's Original Sunscreen Lotion feels surprisingly lightweight and non-greasy when applied.

I opened up my bottle of Sun Bum Original Sunscreen Lotion about 10 minutes after stepping onto the cruise ship, and I immediately felt like I was on vacation. This sunscreen smells like summer. More specifically, it smells like Piña Coladas.

It takes a bit of effort to apply, and I did notice some pilling if I overdid it trying to rub it in, so make sure not to go overboard. But, despite being a thick lotion consistency, Sun Bum's Original Sunscreen Lotion feels surprisingly lightweight and non-greasy when applied.

This sunscreen is especially perfect for outdoor activities because it's water-resistant for up to 80 minutes, so it was perfect to bring along for my snorkeling trip. I went through an entire bottle during my 8-day cruise, and I'm happy to report that I didn't get sunburned once!

After returning from vacation, I immediately repurchased Sun Bum's Original Sunscreen Lotion (this time in SPF 70 because why not?) along with some of their other products:

Sun Bum Face Lotion SPF 50

Filters: Avobenzone 3%, Homosalate 10%, Octisalate 5%, Octocrylene 10%

Sun Bum's face lotion SPF 50 has a very thin, milk-like consistency that quickly melts into your skin. I love how easily it applied (with minimal rubbing needed).

I'm pretty picky about face sunscreens because in addition to having oily skin, when I'm hot my face sweats so much. It's not only seriously embarrassing but also means I've dealt with a lot of sunscreen dripping into my eyeballs. Ouch.

Luckily, I didn't have that problem at all with Sun Bum's face lotion. It has a very thin, milk-like consistency that quickly melts into your skin. My boyfriend was not a fan of the watery consistency, but I love how quickly I was able to apply it (with minimal rubbing needed).

I love the healthy dewy finish this left me with, although if you prefer a more matte finish, this sunscreen might not be for you. I probably wouldn't attempt to wear this under makeup, but I enjoyed using it on its own at the beach.

Sun Bum SPF 30 Lip Balm in Pomegranate

Filters: Avobenzone 2%, Homosalate 15%, Octinoxate 7.5%, Octisalate 5%

I've written before about the importance of SPF lip balms, and I'm adding Sun Bum's lip balm to my list of affordable and yummy SPF lip balms you need to try. It's a clear, moisturizing, and non-greasy lip balm that smells and tastes amazing. And it comes in so many different flavors! My lips felt very adequately moisturized and I could rest easy knowing that they were protected from UV rays.

Sun Bum Cool Down Hydrating After Sun Lotion

Sun Bum Face Lotion SPF 50, Sun Bum SPF 30 Lip Balm, Sun Bum Original Sunscreen Lotion, Sun Bum Cool Down Hydrating After Sun Lotion. This sunscreen is especially perfect for vacation because it's water resistant for up to 80 minutes, so it was perfect to bring along for my snorkeling trip. I went through an entire bottle during my 8-day trip and I'm happy to report that I didn't get sunburned once!

After a day at the beach, nothing is more critical than soothing and moisturizing your skin. Sun Bum's Cool Down Hydrating After Sun Lotion successfully does both of those things with ingredients like aloe leaf juice, jojoba oil, and cocoa butter. And for some extra soothing, I keep mine in the fridge.

This lotion doesn't feel oily or greasy; however, it does carry that signature Sun Bum summery scent (likely because of the cocoa butter). As much as I love that scent in my sunscreen, I'm personally not a big fan of smelling like "summer" after I'm freshly showered. So I think I'm more likely to reach for an unscented lotion over this. However, if I want something more soothing without the scent I might try Sun Bum's Cool Down Hydrating After Sun Gel.

Overall, I'm really happy with my first few Sun Bum products and I can't imagine a beach day without them.

Have you tried any Sun Bum products before? Which are your favorite?
