4 Sensitive Skin Must-Haves from First Aid Beauty

First Aid Beauty is one of my favorite skincare brands because they formulate their products with sensitive skin in mind.

This brand will definitely meet a lot of people's guidelines for clean beauty. All of their products are free of fragrance, denatured alcohol, and sulfates (all ingredients that sensitive skin should try to avoid).

They also have about 130 other ingredients on their "no-no" list, a few of which aren't necessarily known to be harmful based on scientific research. But hey, if excluding those ingredients is important to you - there ya go!

But let's dive into what First Aid Beauty does include. And that's gentle formulations with sensitive skin in mind!

One thing I especially love about First Aid Beauty is they use colloidal oatmeal in almost all of their products - which is an amazing ingredient for sensitive skin!

How does Colloidal Oatmeal benefit the skin?

Colloidal oatmeal is a skin-soothing, emollient ingredient full of:

  • lipids
  • fatty acids
  • ferulic acid
  • vitamin E

It has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits and it can be extremely helpful in keeping your skin barrier healthy. It's perfect for irritated or sensitive skin!

Here are some of my favorite skincare products from First Aid Beauty!

First Aid Beauty is my favorite clean skincare brand for sensitive skin. They're fragrance-free and free of sulfates and alcohol.

First Aid Beauty Pure Skin Face Cleanser

This is a gentle, hydrating cleanser free of fragrance and sulfates. It thoroughly cleanses skin without stripping it of moisture.

Key Ingredients

  • Aloe: to soothe
  • Allantoin: to soothe and soften
  • Glycerin: to hydrate
  • Antioxidants like licorice root, feverfew, and white tea extract to protect against free radical damage

My Experience

First Aid Beauty’s Face Cleanser is definitely within my top 3 cleansers. It has a luxe, creamy texture that lathers into a light froth.

It meets the main requirements I look for when using a cleanser and what I love most is how soft it makes my skin feel after I use it.

I’d say it’s a decent cleanser for most skin types, even sensitive skin. However, if you have extremely dry skin you might have more luck with a cream or milky cleanser.

Price: $21/5oz at firstaidbeauty.com (they also sell smaller bottles for less)

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Face Moisturizer

This is a no-frills daily moisturizer that makes my skin feel hydrated and soft.

Key Ingredients

  • Colloidal Oatmeal: see above for all the amazing benefits
  • Shea Butter: An amazing emollient ingredient full of fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals
  • Antioxidants: to protect from environmental stressors

My Experience

The Ultra Repair Face Moisturizer is a little more lightweight than their Ultra Repair Cream (which is probably First Aid Beauty’s most talked-about product - and fantastic for dry skin) but this one is so underrated in my opinion.

It’s hydrating, has a smooth texture, and plays well with makeup and other skincare products.

First Aid Beauty BarriAIR cream

First Aid Beauty’s Ultra Repair BarriAIR Cream is full of ingredients that are meant to strengthen or repair your skin barrier.

Key Ingredients

  • Hyaluronic Acid: A powerful humectant that hydrates the skin
  • Ceramides and linoleic acid: To strengthen and repair the skin barrier
  • Colloidal Oatmeal: To soothe irritated or sensitive skin

My Experience

A healthy skin barrier is optimal for glowy, healthy skin - so of course, I love it! And it also has one of the coolest, most unique textures I’ve ever used. It literally feels like putting clouds on my face (CLOUDS!).

An open jar showing the cloud-like foam texture of First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair BarriAIR cream. Fragrance-free skincare; safe for sensitive skin.

And I know this jar looks tiny for $30, but trust me it’s not.

When it first arrived at my doorstep, I was a bit disappointed with the size. I took my first scoop of the cloudlike foam texture and was already sad that I’d used a significant chunk of the product.

Little did I know, this moisturizer expands! Every night I’d open the jar and find that the foam had expanded all the way to the top - it was like a never-ending magic jar! It lasted me about 8 months when used every night and I loved every moment of it.

Price: $30/1.7oz at firstaidbeauty.com

First Aid Beauty Instant Oatmeal Mask

This is a 10-minute wash-off mask with soothing and moisturizing ingredients, and of course, it uses colloidal oatmeal.

Key Ingredients

  • Colloidal oatmeal and Bisabolol: to soothe
  • Shea Butter: An amazing emollient ingredient full of fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals.
  • Antioxidants: To prevent free radical damage

My Experience

First Aid Beauty’s Instant Oatmeal Mask is the perfect mask for soothing sensitive skin and I always reach for it when my skin is feeling a little irritated (and when I’ve over-exfoliated - I know, I know I spend all this time warning against over-exfoliating but I’m only human. It happens to the best of us.).

The coolest thing is you can see little bits of oatmeal in the mask which also gives some very gentle exfoliating benefits!

Price: $24/2oz at firstaidbeauty.com
